Well, I finally got around to finishing Darksiders, on the PS3!

I found the game brilliant, a good reliable combat system, well designed levels, a non-confusing yet well told story, and the art style was great too!

I know this game has been compaired to Zelda games by many people, but hey, it's an obvious conclusion that this game was heavily inspired by Zelda as far as some of the weapons and puzzles go, but it doesn't feel like a rip off, but an extension!

The combat system is fairly basic as far as use goes, but looks great when War (the character you play), pulls off some great moves!

The fact that the game has very little loading times is also great, and the cut scenes are done really well too!

But what I found that got me the most was in the final minutes of the game, when I had finished it was that it left you feeling satisfied, but also wanting more, and it sent chills down my spine when I saw some friends arrive (wars friends)! This made me think of the possibilities of a sequal!

Some of what I have said may sound a bit cryptic, but I don't want to put in any spoilers for those that haven't played it!

Listen I read review after review trashing that game...and I just don't get it. It was beautiful, it flowed well, there were almost ZERO gameplay issues. It was a fantastic game. 8/10 for me. Actually 9/10 for the sheer awesomeness of the storyline and the fact that Joe Mad did the art for it. I could have just watched someone play that game it looked so amazing. I will argue that perhaps they tried to do TOO much in a single title. There were items/weapons that you really never used, but they were still cool, and done WELL for what little you did use them.

As far as copying games goes, you mentioned it being compared to Zelda and I read some stuff where they said it rips off Portal and God of War. My thought process is this. If you're going to borrow concepts from a game, just make sure they're GOOD concepts, and the game is good. :) Which they did, all the stuff they "borrowed" worked well in those other titles and it worked well here also. There are NO original ideas anymore, so kudos to anyone that can take something done, and put a new spin on it to make you enjoy the same story once again. :) I'm with you on this one Phil.
